How this list is ranked

This is ranked by finished boards over the last seven days, not by page views. If someone opens a puzzle and closes it again, it doesn't move anything up this list. If they turn the whole grid green, it does. That's why the order barely changes: a puzzle people actually finish keeps its spot, and being new isn't enough on its own.

Where each board sits

Waffle Game

The most-finished board here, and the one people come back to most. Every letter is on show from the start, so nobody bounces off it for not knowing a word. All the difficulty is in the swapping.

Deluxe Waffle

Second by solves and first by time spent. Twenty-five swaps across eight words isn't just a bigger puzzle, it's a different one.

Waffle Unlimited

The same board as the front page without the wait till tomorrow. It spikes at weekends, when people have time for more than one.

Wordle

Third by solves, first for people sharing their score. Six tries is short enough that losing doesn't sting, so they come back the next day.

Dordle Wordle

Fewer solves than Wordle but longer sessions, because two boards take real thought. Popular with people who've already done the daily waffle before breakfast.

Word Blast

The most divisive one on the list. People either crack it in three minutes or run out of lives, with not much in between, which keeps its solve rate lower than its popularity.

If you're new here, start at the top and work down. The order doubles as a difficulty curve: Waffle teaches you the colours, Wordle asks you to use them blind, Dordle doubles the load, and Word Blast throws the colours away and asks you to find the connections instead.
